Chocolate Works 2021 (Part 8): Exploring the History and Traditions of Mooncake Festival

This is my creation of chocolates for mooncake festival. They are a combination of couverture chocolates with mooncake fillings. Here are more details of the chocolate brand and fillings.

The 8 flavours are in pairs of milk chocolate on the left, and dark chocolate with one white chocolate on the right.

They are placed separated in different boxes, as with the legend of the couple Chang’e and Hou Yi , separated by one being on the moon and the other on earth. My favourite is the Jade Rabbit story, about a cute rabbit jumping into fire to turn himself into food. Both are stories of self-sacrifice.

There are four designs. Each design further separated into two, with two different chocolate types.

The pair on the left is the floral pair. Sunflowers and Roses. A special thing with the Roses is it contains Jasmine infused White Ganache. The only ganache self made in this collection with white chocolate.

On the right is the Leaf pair. Peppermint and Green Tea.

The Undecorated pair on the right. The Cheese Milk Chocolate and Durian Dark Chocolate.
