Wedding Receptions in Malaysia
I started my cake education with the Wilton Cake Decorating programme and eventually became their Instructor. After 6 years, I fully transitioned to home-based production. In between, I went to Pastry School, trust me, pastry and cake are not the same.
My specialty in wedding cake design is flowers and my current favourite medium is the wafer paper. Also gumpaste flowers, royal icing stenciling and basic piping, fondant figurines; generally a little bit of everything to cater to different wedding cake styles. I encourage couples to personalize their wedding cake design to make their cake uniquely theirs.
Sharing of work processes and technical skills in this dynamic industry is something I enjoy. With basic IT, social media and content creation skills being a requirement these days, I hope the documentation of my work and thought processes creates openness, inspiration and motivation.
All About Wedding Cake
Desserts at weddings has become much sought after, sometimes they are favoured, replacing the traditional wedding cake here in Malaysia. Similar with having a cake to end the meal on a sweet note , desserts are a treat for wedding guests from the hosts, reflecting taste, standards, and status.
Typically, these are not your everyday desserts, but ones that are tailored to clients’ requests. Special requests range from couples’ favourite dessert, to recreating flavours acquired from travels, or childhood grandmother’s dessert recipe. No two weddings has the exact same dessert pairings, platings and presentation.
I do admit this is setting expectations too high, but that’s the beauty of being self-employed. I create the rules. 😊
