Wedding Cake Separators: A Collaborative Effort with Clients
A collaborative effort by clients to include part of the crystal beads used in their custom made bunga telur into the wedding cake. Instead of mixing the beads among sugar flowers, an alternative is a handmade cake separator for their wedding cake.
I drew a rough sketch*. The correct size of styrofoams are passed to clients. The flower beads are handwoven and and attached to the styrofoams by clients, and then passed back to me. Such a long process, worthy of a blog post. The thoughtfulness and efforts of the bride’s family is rare in today’s fast-pace world.
*Sketches are for original designs. Early bookings are preferable. The real cake will always look better than the sketches. Here is another example of cake sketch and real cake outcome.
The exclusive looking bunga telur made by Mother of the Bride. Bunga telur translated to English is “flower egg”, a customary wedding gift to guests symbolizing fertility.
The stage of the smaller banquet hall in Tower Regency. The all white pelamin, flanked by two red bunga telur bouquets. I like the placement of the cake table at the bottom of the stage. The bunga telur and wedding cake separator in red are a standout among the all white stage decor.
Congratulations Athirah and Yazid.
